The Library/Learning Resource Center at each campus is a place where students can study, complete research, and increase their knowledge.
The Library/Learning Resource Center contains books, periodicals, CD-ROM collections and computer programs. It is Internet accessible, with a variety of search vehicles, databases and specialized programs to assist students in all aspects of their education and learning.
The Library/Learning Resource Centers are under the supervision of a full time professional librarian, who, with the faculty and library staff, facilitates the development of library resources and assists students and faculty in their use.

LRC Electronic System Rules
* Computer use
Priority in the use of LRC computers will go to people who are using them for academic purposes (research, writing papers, class assignments, etc.).
* Internet monitoring
IIA reserves the right to monitor Internet use in the LRC.
* Internet Content Policy
Some Internet sites contain sexually explicit, discriminatory, harassing or inflammatory material. It is impossible to screen out all of this material, yet leave available sites to which users may need access for class research. Some courses in the justice administration and medical fields require access to text and images which some may find objectionable. Therefore, LRC computers do not restrict access to any Internet sites. LRC staff does, however, retain the right to terminate the display of text or images which might reasonably be deemed offensive, discriminatory or of a potentially harassing nature, especially when such material is not essential to course-related research. If another user objects to the display of material which is essential to research, LRC staff may require the researcher to accommodate those sensitivities by relocating or rescheduling their research session. If you feel that offensive, discriminatory or harassing material is being inappropriately displayed, please inform LRC staff.
* Computer viruses and spyware
All user disks are automatically scanned for computer viruses and spyware by LRC computers. Uploading or downloading of viruses or spyware is prohibited.
* Copyrighted material
The unauthorized use, installation, copying, or distribution of copyrighted, trademarked, or patented material on the Internet is expressly prohibited. As a general rule, if a user did not create the material, does not own the rights to it, or has not gotten authorization for its use, it should not be put on the Internet. LRC users may obtain and print copyrighted material for their own use, but may not distribute it to others.
* Downloading software onto LRC computers
Installing or downloading any software, data, music, or video files, onto LRC computers is not permitted.
* Downloading software onto disk or CD
Using LRC computers to download onto disk or CD any software program--whether free or not, owned by the LRC, or obtained from the Internet--is not permissible. Use of the CD burners on LRC computers to transfer files obtained from the Internet is prohibited. Such files include, but are not limited to:
o music files--any form, legally or illegally obtained, including MP3, WMA, WAV, CD audio, etc.
o video files--in any format
o copyrighted materials
o obscene or offensive material
* Computer games
Recreational game playing on LRC computers is not allowed.
* Computer settings
Changing LRC computer settings is not permissible.
* Vandalism

* Shopping
Buying, selling, or bidding on goods or services over the Internet is prohibited.
* Commercial Usage
Commercial usage of LRC resources is prohibited. Electronic resources and systems are for academic purposes and are not to be used for commercial purposes.
* Misuse of LRC facilities
Any intentional misuse of LRC computers, facilities, etc. could result in cancellation of LRC privileges and other disciplinary measures.
LRC E-mail Rules
* Sending offensive material
Do not use LRC computers to send information that violates or infringes upon the rights of another person or any information which to an average person would be defamatory, racially offensive, abusive, obscene, threatening, profane, or sexually offensive, or which contains any advertising or any solicitation of other persons to use goods or services. Transmission of material, information, or software in violation of any local, state, or federal law is also prohibited.
* Acceptable use
Using e-mail in the LRC should occur only when the computers are not needed for class assignments.
* Computer viruses
E-mail users should not open any attachments. The only exception is: if the user is certain of the sender and knows the attachment's contents. This is one of the most important safeguards against viruses.
* Chat rooms and chat networks
Entering or using chat rooms or chat networks or personal ad services is prohibited in the LRC.
* Messenger services
Installing or subscribing to e-mail messenger services (such as AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger) is not allowed in the LRC. Please use regular e-mail only.
